Seattle drivers fail at snow

Posted in Failures, In the News by Henry on January 11th, 2007

Today somebody repeated to me something they read online about Seattle. The gist of it was that out here they must be taught in driver’s ed that when you see any snow the safest thing to do is pull over as far as you can (if the side of the road is too far, just make a best effort) get out of the car (leaving your headlights on is ok here too, b/c there will be no tommorrow (its snowing after all) so why worry about the battery?) and start walking. The car is definately too dangerous in the snow.

We had a few inches, and there are abandoned cars everywhere. The standard excuse is: “My car couldn’t make it any further.” Well, perhaps if you didn’t just keep giving it more gas when the tires start to spin you might actually succeed? Maybe its because I’m from New England but I think shutting down all the schools, even the large corporations in the area because of an inch or two of snow is absurd. You go Seattle.
