Stoptech’s white papers are required reading

Posted in Technical Articles by Clint on August 8th, 2007

If you’re interested in upgrading any of the brake components on your VR4, or if you’re interested in the theory and physics of braking systems in general, you should head to Stoptech’s technical white papers page and begin reading. In fact, do not buy any brake parts, make any assertions about how brakes work, or even allow the idea of braking to enter your brain until you have read all the articles.

Here are direct links to a few of my favorites. These articles, in my opinion, best help you make intelligent brake-related decisions:
1. Discussion of the warped brake disc myth
2. Discussion of brake fluids
3. Good comprehensive discussion of how braking systems work

All the articles are worth reading, but read these three and you’ll be well-equipped to talk about brakes.

This happened to me on the VR4. This is because the Panther Plus is still a high-temp pad. You can avoid this by making a point of braking aggressively a few times each time you drive the car. […]
