YouTube video failure showcase, failure one: The Dancing Miata
Posted in Failures by Henry on September 27th, 2007
It is no secret that Noah and Clint are quicker with the camera than me. The car-carrier which smashed one of its cars into a bridge, the lovely moose spoiler, and the guy who drives around with his seatbelt dragging are all examples of the pictures they have taken of the the splendid failures of others. Well it kills me to see the ridiculing of others and not be a part, and I don’t have the patience to wait around for failure to happen. So, I decided to go onto YouTube and find the most unreasonable car video I could to share with everybody.
Well, as it turns out, if you are willing to follow the suggested links from each video deeper and deeper you get some pretty spectacular results. I had enough candidates that I’m going to try and make a habit of posting these over the next few weeks. So with that, I present YouTube Failure #1: Dancing Miata.
This video has a collection of factors which made it my first pick to highlight as a YouTube failure.
1)The car
The first factor is the car itself. Somebody needs to tell the owner that as a rule Miatas should not be blue with white stripes. Also of interest on the car are the blue turn signals. Why would you do that? (stock mariner blue Miata for comparison).
The video
Next is the video itself. It’s a one minute video that consists of about 20 frames in total. That alone should be a tip off that it isn’t worth public consumption. And if you watch (or skip) to the very end you then you are in for a treat. The Miata smiles at you! Amazing. Perhaps I’m crazy, but to me “Dancing Miata” brings to mind images of a Miata with a 350 sliding around poles in a parking lot to classical music. NOT a 5 year old’s video editing project.
The comments
And finally, the last factor was the comments. Pamet says:
“Hehehe i always imagine that Miatas have real mouths in front of them, you exposed this well”
I was a bit perturbed by this guy, and I thought all was lost until I got to the last comment. YouTube user Jodmi says:
“you dont deserve this space”.
This saved everything for me. Clearly, this is YouTube video failure.
